What size pipe up to roof for solar?

I have an intellflow pump using 2” piping, hayward 48 DE filter. I want to run water up about 8’ to commercial black mats and back. Is 2” or 1 1/2” a better bet to tie int existing 2”? And any recommendations on solar mats?
