Alto Swim Club 14-year-old Tanishi Gupta ripped a personal-best 1:01.26 to win the women’s 100 butterfly on Saturday night, highlighting the third night of Novato Sectionals.

Gupta dropped more than half a second off her previous-best 1:01.97 from May as she closes in on the Pacific 13-14 LSC record of 1:00.51 set by Marissa Neel in 2009. She now ranks 48th in the U.S. girls 13-14 national age group (NAG) rankings.

Gupta wasn’t the only 14-year-old girl to come away with a victory as Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks 14-year-old Daniela Linares claimed the 200 backstroke title in 2:14.99. She touched about a second off her personal-best 2:13.88 from May.

The men’s 200 back saw Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks 18-year-old Sam Seybold (2:02.66) beat rising UNLV sophomore Kyle Adamson (2:06.39) by almost four seconds. Seybold, who is about to begin his freshman year at Cal Poly this fall, knocked almost half a second off his previous-best 2:03.10 from May.

Virginia commit (’25) Raya Mellott was apart of two 1-2 finishes for her Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks squad. The 16-year-old breaststroke specialist took the 100 breast title in 1:09.44 before blasting a huge lifetime best in the 400 free (4:24.80) en route to 2nd place behind 16-year-old teammate Lillyana Caples (personal-best 4:22.87) Mellott dropped more than four seconds off her best 400 free time from May (4:28.85) and was just over a second off her personal-best 100 breast time of 1:08.26 from last July during her victory over 17-year-old teammate Hayley Gregory (1:11.71).

Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks 15-year-old Kaden Wong orchestrated an impressive drop in the men’s 400 free on his way to the win in 4:01.66. He had never been under 4:04 before today, with his previous-best 4:04.06 coming last July. Wong reached the wall just a couple tenths ahead of Alto Swim Club 17-year-old Francisco Goya (4:01.90), who lowered his previous-best 4:02.68 from May.

Rising University of the Pacific (UoP) senior Mitchell Hopper hit a new lifetime best in the men’s 100 fly (55.06) for the win. The 20-year-old dropped a few tenths off his previous-best 55.41 from last July, touching half a second ahead of rising Cornell junior Jacques Grove (55.66).

The men’s 100 breast went to LaMirada Armada 16-year-old Elonzo Santos (1:04.02), who narrowly missed his personal-best 1:03.89 from May. Soon-to-be UoP junior Ethan Cole was next to the wall in 1:04.38, sneaking under his previous-best 1:04.50 from last July.

The Crow Canyon Country Club Shark women concluded their dominant evening with a win in the 800 free relay (8:30.18) courtesy of Notre Dame commit (’25) Ellie Butler (2:07.24), Madison O’Connell (2:09.16), Mellott (2:07.36), and Liberty Clark (2:06.42).
