I just purchased a home with a more complex pool than I am familiar with. This pool has an attached spa that is level with the pool but has a spillover in the middle. We had a pool guy come out to fix a leak at the check valve. He said the check valve was unnecessary for this pool because the spa and pool were the same level, assured me that it had no purpose, removed it and put it a straight pipe in its place.
