Polaris pump gets power but only makes humming sound.

I only run my Polaris occasionally during peak season about every other day for an hour or less. The Polaris pump motor ran normally a few days ago. Today, I flipped the manual switch for the Polaris pump it and it sounded completely different than usual. It only made a humming sound and I inferred that the impeller was not moving. Could this be a "minor" issue like a capacitor has failed or something more serious like frozen bearings, etc? Pump is over eight years old. I have a...
