I have had an amazing run with a Pentair SuperFlo 1 HP pump, with zero maintenance for almost 12 years. It only runs from around mid-April to early Sept., but was frequently left on for days at a time over the last few years, since our timer broke. My point is that this pump has been a beast. Last summer it was noticeably louder than in the past, so we figure it's finally time to replace it.
